…the top 10 shots of 2008. I know this piece has a lot of folks chomping at the bit, but all the interviews are just about complete. I’m aiming for Wednesday, so be on the lookout. And if you missed it, check out last year’s list here for an idea of what to expect.

The whistle shot in Milk is my favorite in a movie this year. Harris Savides deserves some Oscar love.
Good choice, BILLY, but I’ve gotta give my vote to Daniel Craig walking through the woods into new spring morning from “Defiance”.
Def my favorite post of the year was your list of best shots of 07, I assume the same will be true for this post.
I just re-read that one and compared to last year I am not sure there are any shots I feel as attached to as there where last year; this year doesn’t even compare in my mind…
There was some good work, but nothing that beats some of last years best (Jesse James, TWBB, No Country, Clayton or the wonderful much talked-about tracking shoot in Atonement). Oh well, there are always peak years.
Ben Button, Dark Knight, Milk, Che, The Wrestler, and Mongol have some of my favorite shots, and even Iron Man if I recall (but that is more of a fanboy favorite).

Awesome, I’m so looking forward to this. Such a great feature.
As for me, I could pretty much fill a top ten list just with shots from “Hunger.”
Wow. Best post/article ever. Great idea Kris. I’m new to the site so I didn’t know about the 2007 edition. Can’t wait.
Immediately coming to mind for me is the high-rise scene in Slumdog. But there are many others I’m sure… I need to muse on this for a while.
If only we had a film in the league of “Assassination of Jesse James,” “The New World” or “Children of Men” this year. Some great stuff this year… but I wasn’t blown away by anything.
There are plenty of shots from Revolutionary Road that are great, as well as Benjamin Button, although I prefer the more simplistic, layered cinematography of Deakins.
If the Joker sticking his head out of the car doesn’t get into this list, someone’s gonna die.
or when the hospital doesn’t quite blow up
Lester, I saw Rev Road last night, I agree there were some great shots… Deakins is def a master and I feel he should have finally won an Oscar last year for Jesse James
I wouldn’t rule this shot out from a movie in 2008 you may have forgotten, Cloverfield. It’s hard to deny that this one in particular is pretty damn stunning.
