I do hope you’re aware of how jealous you’re making us. ;)

    Diego: Is it?

You can add as many G’s as you like, Diego. It’s not gonna happen.

Add me to the envious pile. If you still can’t stand “I’ve Loved You So Long,” you know where to send your copy ;)

Wow! Seriously, you’re the luckiest man alive right now. Oh and on a side note, does anyone else feel like the covers for the screeners always look better than the eventual covers for the DVD’s of the same film?

BTW when is the Dark Knight coming out on DVD. I know they’re planning to rerelease it in January (to milk it some more) and for Oscar consideration, but does that mean it’ll come out mid next year?

Good news Alex, the DVD for The Dark Knight is actually coming out in two weeks (December 9, 2008 to be exact)!! Check here: http://videoeta.com/movie/86078

That’s good. I thought they might withhold the release to encourage people to see it at the cinema. I’m still almost inconsolable about the very existence of an HSM3 screener and its pseudo serious looking cover (it could easily be mistaken for Frost/Nixon). I was under the impression that a movie can be popular/populist, but has to at least be good for anyone to consider nominating it in the Original Song category.

I’ll just say it: I had a lot more fun watching HSM3 than Frost/Nixon.

Man… I’m curious, how much would I have to work to start getting screeners… if I opened an Oscar blog of my own, would that be enough. Been considering it for several years, I have 7 years of professional writing under my belt, but its in video game writing and film is my true love.

Alex: to counter your last point, I give you Best Original Song winner “Thank God It’s Friday.”

You have to see it (or at least 15 minutes of it, as I did on European late night TV) to believe it.

How do you become eligible for this kind of stuff?!

I get your point but on the other hand it’s almost a cynical ploy on Disney’s behalf to be campaigning for an Oscar for a movie that was even more pathetic than the mildly amusing TV movie original. The very existence of the screener makes this film appear somewhat legitimate. I don’t care if they were to give Alan Menken 5 noms for a movie like Enchanted (they didn’t and can’t) because that was more in the vein of the mid nineties Katzenberg animated movies.

What the hell is Adam Resurrected?

  • 28 11-26-2008 at 9:09 pm

    Blake said...

What is the resolution of a screener? are they DVD quality or somewhere around VHS? Looking at that picture makes me realize just how bad this year is for mainstream cinema. No Country, There Will Be Blood, Zodiac, and so on seem like the good old days.

Can’t wait to see Wendy and Lucy, though.

    Bing147 said...

Vance, Adam Resurrected is a film starring Jeff Goldblum for which he’s getting RAVES. Unfortunately, its small and he really has no chance but he has as good of reviews as any lead actor this year outside of maybe Rourke.

They’ll start to leak online in the next little bit probably, and I’ll be left with the same question, do I download them and feel guilty or wait until my crappy little town FINALLY starts getting them 3 months from now. I’ll probably end up doing what I always do, only watch 1 or 2 most anticipated and as long as I like them, go see them in the theatre as well to dissuage any feelings of guilt, lol.
