LaBute’s ‘Lakeview Terrace’ poster

Cinematical has an exclusive on the first poster for Neil LaBute’s upcoming “Lakeview Terrace.” We’ve had our eye on this film on the contenders pages for some time. It could go either way as an awards contender, with seemingly attractive roles for Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington.

LaBute has been off the mark to say the least for a few years now. Maybe this can get him back on track. Screen Gems will be releasing on September 19. Here’s the poster (click for larger image):

(Every time I think of this film I think of rent checks. My landlord lives in Lakeview Terrace. Hopefully flashbacks to paying monthly bills won’t color my reaction!)

This has as much Oscar potential as Freedomland or Twisted or Basic or any of the countless other generic thrillers Jackson appears in.

Is it just me or does the poster make the film look like a comedy?

I’ve seen the trailer twice in the past several weeks, and the film looks pretty dire, if you ask me.
