  • Super ‘There Will Be Blood’ video game

It’s not exactly a booming news day and I’m slow to get back into the groove after a weekend away, so forgive the frivolity of this.  I thought it was kind of awesome.

Although, I have a beef.  This looks closer to an 8-bit thing than a 16-bit thing, and 16-bit is necessary if you’re going to slap the “Super” prefix on there, right?  (Like I said, slow news day.)

Anyway, this video, to the best of my knowledge, showed up on Geek Tyrant first but it’s been making the rounds the last week or so.  If only the creator had cooked this up back in 2007.  Freshness is key!
Someone get busy on, I don’t know, an NES-style representation of “Inception.”  (Or have they totally done that already?) Check out the video game adventures of Daniel Plainview after the jump.

  • The history of Dr. Amadeus Arkham

This one’s for the video game fans, which I understand might be a considerable minority, but this comes out in less than a week.  Color me stoked:

GhostbustersFor the video game fans in the house…

I beat the new “Ghosbusters” game within 24 hours of picking it up.  It’s a moderately fun game, though not at all interesting from a story stand point.  I bring it up because, after all, when Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis began developing the game, they did so with the intention that it would be, essentially, the third “film” in the franchise.  But ultimately the narrative, which could have been quite ambitious given the medium, was simply rehased plot points from the first movie.

Writing at the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, Jamin Brophy-Warren has posted an interesting item, however brief, detailing the game’s road to fruition.  I just wish there was more thought put into the actual plot.  However, there is an awesome sequence in the game that echoes both the cartoon series and the “Ghostbusters in Hell” concept that almost made it to theaters in the 1990s.

But here’s the real question: there was an “E.T.” game on Atari back in the day?!

  • James Cameron talks ‘Avatar’ at E3

As mentioned in this morning’s round-up, the first look we’re all getting at James Cameron’s “Avatar” comes in the form of screen shots from the accompanying video game.  Quite silly, of course, but anyway, Cameron talked briefly about the film and at length about the game at the on-going Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) yesterday.

Cameron talked at length about the film’s plot, which I’ve steered clear from elsewhere but if you’re like me, it’s a gold mine of information.  When he begins discussing the “mother of all battles” that closes the film, the geek hairs stood up on the back of my neck.

You can read a full transcript of Cameron’s lead-in address, right up until he begins discussing the Ubisoft video game, after the jump.  Here’s a video of the presentation, from G4:

  • Awesome ‘Wolverine’ video game commercial

I first saw this over at /film last night.  Very creative. Anyone played this? Any good? I need to stop wasting money buying games that end up sucking (coughdeadspacecough).

  • I vote Polamalu

Just a little Trojan support.  But Fitzgerald or Roethlisberger would be cool too.  Peterson will come, in time.  Or at least he better.

    Back to movies…
