Lots of TV talk lately. It happens, I guess, but I’ve been biting my nails waiting on the fate of NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” for a while now. When the network gave up on it I thanked my lucky stars I could see it exclusively on DirecTV, but NBC has been re-running that third season this year so that’s nice. Now comes news that the show will see network life for two more seasons. From the AP:
A person close to the production said Monday that it has been renewed for two more 13-episode runs and will be on the air through the 2010-11 season. The person, who lacked authorization to discuss NBC’s decision, spoke on condition of anonymity.
“Friday Night Lights,” a Texas football-and-family drama starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, has struggled in the ratings but has been a critical bright spot for NBC, drawing consistently good reviews and Emmy and Peabody awards.
“Lights” hasn’t been the “best stuff on TV” material it was in its first season, but I still very much enjoyt he show and think it deserves the time to play out the course of its various characters. Strange that I became such a fan of the series when I was immediately turned off by Peter Berg’s 2004 film for whatever reason. And someone give Kyle Chandler a silver screen role he can really dig his teeth into already.

Like you, Kris, I was waiting anxiously for an announcement and now I can relax. Woohoo!
The crazy thing about Season 3 is that when I inevitable rewatch the previous seasons in anticipation for the DVD, I’ll probably skip most, if not all, of Season 2.
Even though it’s a movie site, you should put up a poll asking who the hottest Friday Night Lights babe is: Adrianne, Aimee, Connie or Minka. My vote would go to Adrianne.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
Season 3 has been just as good as the first season, in my opinion. It’s a bit different now that we’re comfortable with all the characters of course, but it’s nice that they don’t just have people stick around years beyond their prime just for the heck of it.
Is there any real contest, Zac? Minka! Although, is it just me or did Aimee fill out suddenly in season 2.
Really? I consider the film to be one of the best sports movies ever made.
Aimee Teegarden is 19 years old. I think she can escape scrutiny for a few more years. And obviously Connie Britton is the most epically beautiful. Best female character on television.
Kyle Chandler is an amazing actor–he can do both drama and comedy. His turn in King Kong was one of the few highlights in the movie.
But obviously, the whole cast is outstanding.
Actually, FNL has been ignored by the Emmy’s, except for “casting award”. I wish it would get more Emmy nominations for the cast.
rosengje: I expected SOMEONE to rain on that parade fast enough.
You’ve gotta love Jesse Plemons too!
Minka.
Kyle Chandler deserves an Emmy. The show has never been better. Im glad it has survived.

I freaking love this show! Cant wait for the next two seasons. However I did hear that Tyra and Lyla are not going to be regulars due to scheduling conflicts. Which sucks, but the writing in this show is perfect so I cant see it messing up anytime soon.
Kyle Chandler deserves every bit of praise he gets, but Connie Britton’s failure to get nominated for an Emmy is a goddamn crime. Give her the right role and this woman could easily win an Oscar.
