Here’s an, um, interesting addition to “Slumdog Millionaire’s” long list of accomplishments: how many Best Original Song winners are treated to a Pussycat Dolls remix? Words fail me.
(Memo to Ms. Scherzinger: it’s pronounced “jye,” not “jay.”)

My ears are bleeding. You’re evil, Guy. How could you post this without a health warning?
Although, mentioning the Pussycat Dolls, probably was the health warning.
why did AR Rahman ever agree to do this? Is he desperate for money?
Hardly. The man’s a superstar, after all.
Let’s not forget he’s essentially a pop artist with a pop sensibility. This is pretty ingenious kitsch — I’ll bet he’s loving every minute. More power to him.
Funky. I never heard anything of those ladies before and hope I never will again. I think Kitsch is indeed the best way to describe it.
They could emigrate for India and never come back! Truly unnecessary.
Am I the only one who really likes this?
Um……hot?
What the curry?
oh no… this piece of crap will be playing at every club I go to a month from now… oy!
Why??????
Rahman is adorable, and I can’t begrudge him his moment in the Hot 100. I was much more offended by this:

Geez, now I have to defend myself?! Yes, it’s cheesy and kitschy and all that, and the mispronunciation of the title is annoying…
But I like it. It’s catchy and fun. Sue me.
And I just realized those subsequent postings may not be directed at me.
I’m feeling a bit defensive today, it seems. Oh well.
Count me in agreement with Kris.
Don’t mind me, but I’m just going to listen to the original version to wash out the blood in my ears.
How delightfully kitchy! I don’t know what the original lyics sang of, but replacing them with steamy sex talk: hillarious.
Agreed Dario….
By the way, I just notice that ‘Jai Ho’ rhymes with ‘Heigh Ho’. Funny that.
Probably a testament to the quality of the original song that it sounds vaguely good, even with the mind-numbing inclusion of the Pussycat Dolls and their perpetual and desperate quest to be ‘sexy’.
If anything, it highlights the huge cultural impact this little film has had on everyone in the last year. How many other Best Song Oscar winners have been given this kind of treatment? Most of us are hard pressed to even name what won the Best Song Oscar in any given year. 2008 it’s a different story.
alex, it also rhymes with “my ho”, which seems an apt rhyme in this context
hahahahahahhaha
