Just got back from catching “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” and boy, it was a mess. The script leaves Cera trying too hard to be funny, while otherwise constantly making cheap jokes using drunkenness and homosexuality. Would not recommend in the slightest.
As far as the Top 10 One Night Out list that is linked in this Oscarweb entry, I’m a bit miffed that “Dazed and Confused” was at 4 and “Superbad” was at 7. The former is among my favorite comedies ever, while “Superbad” certainly has more resonance than Harold and Kumar or House Party.
But yeah, don’t see Nick and Norah’s…
“Nick and Norah” is just too precious for its own good.
Yeah, that’s a good way to describe it, almost a balance of preciousness and cheap humor mixed together in a weird cauldron that even Cera can’t save.
