Holiday film thoughts

It struck me that I should probably offer up some space for you all to discuss the latest releases since it’s obviously been a slow-moving week, so if you want to speak up on “It’s Complicated,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Up in the Air,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Nine” or, God bless you, “The Squeakquel,” have at it here.  I’m on a jet plane back to the West coast tomorrow evening and things will be back to normal Monday.

Oh and why did they have to cut so many songs that not only were beautiful but helped progress the story and characters!?! Including more songs would have brought the women into more scenes and songs and IMHO would have rounded things out more.

I sort of wanted Rob Marshall to incorporate the film aspect of Guido’s life in Nine. In Chicago, Roxie wants to be a stage star so the altered reality worked. For Nine, I wish he would’ve at least watched all his ladies on a movie screen or something. It would have released the restriction of everything needing to be on a damn stage.
