You know that episode of “Weeds” during season 3, when Mary-Louise Parker’s Nancy Botwin gets a tattoo of a u-turn sign as a symbol of strength against a former adversary of the same name? That kind of sums up why I want this Barack Obama socialism poster, fashioning the Commander-in-Chief after Heath Ledger’s Joker in “The Dark Knight,” hanging on my wall. I’m screwy like that. Over at The Guardian, by the way, Ben Walters does a pretty good job of shooting down the effort being made here by those suddenly on the outside looking in.

They couldn’t even make a pun like “Why socialism serious?” Jesus. Wingnut humor at its best: juxtapose image associated with Teh Scary and word associated with Teh Scary, assume your audience will do the rest.

It’s funny to watch these folks get riled up at Town Hall Meetings regurgitating ill-informed GOP soundbytes, but you better not touch their Medicare!!

i guess it makes sense since batman in TDK was a stand-in for cheney or whatever (rolls eyes; i’m looking at you, housenextdoor). i would kind of like this on a shirt, save the “socialism” bullcrap. it’d almost be as cool as the shirt i have of the joker in the shepard fairey obama color scheme (but w/ “joke” at the bottom instead of “hope”).
i have a close croatian friend who just turned 30, so she totally remembers what it was like when the country was a socialist republic and she finds it absolutely hysterical when american conservatives cry about “socialism.” but wait, i thought obama was a commie? or is he a nazi? because when i think of hitler’s successor, i totally think of a biracial dude whose dad is from kenya. i’m almost positive that obama is what hitler had in mind when he thought of the ubermensch.
If people actually understood what the word socialism meant, maybe we could regain some sense.
The hilarious thing is that the Joker was more of an anarchist than a socialist.
