‘Green Zone’ also pushed to 2010

This Universal announcement isn’t as unexpected as the last one, since it’s been somewhat in the air for a while now, but Chad reminds us that Paul Greengrass’s “Green Zone” has landed a March 2010 release date, taking it out of this year’s Oscar race and leaving the studio with two summer hopefuls: Michael Mann’s “Public Enemies” and Judd Apatow’s “Funny People.”  Unless, of course, there’s a festival pick-up.  Lots of potential still floating around on that front.

And that was on your Oscar Charts list. I guess that opens that up, plus limiting Damon’s chances.

I still can’t see Public Enemies getting in.

This will most probably open The Hurt Locker’s way to the Oscars… I think Bigelow may even be a favorite to win at this stage… Universal’s Funny People may also be the one they push harder and eventually land a Best Picture nomination, even though the reviews are not very enthusiastic so far…

Funny People not enthusiastic? It’s not raves but hailed as Apatow’s best, and with his previous far lesser films also concidered for Oscar glory this one is a solid contender. Especiallt with 10.

Public Enemies won’t get in, it’s too progressive.

The reviews are worse than both of his previous films, mostly saying he tries harder this time but is too self-indulgent and incohesive.
