‘Welcome to the Rileys’ poster

I haven’t seen “Welcome to the Rileys,” which opened at Sundance earlier this year and was a part of the downward spiraling Apparition stable before being shifted over to Samuel Goldwyn Films.  Starring James Gandolfini and Kristen Stewart, as well as Melissa Leo (quite busy this year), the film may or may not have an impact this season.  How’s that for insight?  It hits theaters October 29.  Have a look at the new poster, courtesy of Movieline, after the jump.

Is it just me, or would “Emmy winner James Gandolfini” be much more prestigious-sounding on a poster than “Golden Globe winner James Gandolfini”?

I understand that this is a film and not television, but still… I think being awarded an Emmy by the television academy is infinitely more impressive than being awarded by a few dozen foreign journalists who are known to be seduced by big names.

I saw this at the LAFF. It’s pretty terrible. It’s not even in the mediocre-enough-for-Oscar equation. I will say that Kristen Stewart is pretty good, however, as well as Gandolfini, who does his best to salvage the material. Melissa Leo unfortunately takes the brunt of the punishment this script doles out on the regular.
