‘Robin Hood’ trailer

Looks…kinda badass.   (New embed courtesy of First Showing, though I don’t know why NBC.Universal would be quick to jerk a YouTube version down but leave stuff like this, slathered with a watermark, online.  Things I’ll never understand):

Lea Seydoux! I have a feeling if she wants to, she can be a big cross-over star. Or at the very least work steadily. She’s incredible in La Belle Personne and she’s racking up small roles in big movies with this and Inglourious Basterds.

Ridley Scott, Brian Helgeland, Pietro Scalia, John Mathieson, Arthur Max, Janty Yates, Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Matthew Macfadyden, William Hurt, Max von Sydow, Eileen Atkins, Danny Huston, Kevin Durand, Scott Grimes…

    Anticipation.

beginning reminded me of polanski’s macbeth then it turned into some pseudo 300 style slow motion action extravaganza….maybe a mix of both ain’t all that bad

Liked the original idea which set Robin Hood as the villain and the sheriff of nottingham as the protagonist…but money needs to be made. Fassbender would be a badass Robin Hood.

    Mark Strong!

If it’s Gladiator in the middle-ages it’ll be hugely enjoyable. And “Bad-ass”was the first thing that came to my mind too.

Russell Crowe is the best actor working today. Whats this, his 5th colaberation with Ridley?

It looks… spectacular. That shot of the bow twanging after firing off an arrow is mouth-wateringly awesome.

I would have liked to see Russell Crowe in Up in the Air or something similar. Other than A Good Year (an aberration to say the least), he hasn’t done any with a light touch. While his range as an actor might not be limited, his career choices have quite a narrow scope.

Sorry, I’ll stick with Errol Flynn…

This looks like Kingdom of Heaven territory all over again. Don’t get me wrong…I usually dig Ridley Scott…but this wasn’t what I was hoping for at all. Still, it will probably kick the Kevin Costner version in the buttocks.

People…never forget that Kingdom of Heaven was tampered with. The director’s cut is just as good as Gladiator.

Sorry, this trailer almost reaches Uwe Boll territory for me. Robin Hood isn’t supposed to be set to aggro-rock heavy metal, it’s supposed to be set to Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Lighten up, they’re simply trying to freshen it up for today’s audiences. It’s not like the actual film will have rock music.

Yeah… this really failed to interest me on any level. Robin Hood is supposed to be lighthearted, adventurous fun. This is just more ponderous, self-serious “Gladiator” drivel.

I haven’t seen it yet but I’m anticipating this movie if only because of Cate being in it.

Which reminds me, I’ve no idea what’s coming out next year. The only things I can honestly say I’m excited about this early on are the Sofia Coppola Somewhere, The Fighter, Tree of Life, Shutter Island and obv. Toy Story 3.

Wasn’t Michael Mann supposed to make a film noir? What is Cronenberg up to? I thought he’s making a movie with Denzel Washington? Meirelles?
