It’s times like this I’m so thankful for our contributors here at In Contention. You may have noticed a somewhat thin post count and commentary on my part the last couple of days. Chalk it up to family being in town and a little ceremony I’ll be attending later this morning. Yes, I’m finally picking up that Masters degree I’ve been striving for the last two years. Luckily, Cannes news has been coming fast and furious and Guy has been Johnny on the spot, so my shortcomings have (hopefully) gone unnoticed, but I thought I’d offer up something akin to an excuse. And yes, you got me: I figured I’d toot my own horn. It’s never too early in the morning to be full of yourself.
Anyway, a few more posts this morning (including a review of “Up” if I can get around to it) and I’m outta here for the rest of the day (and likely, the weekend). Pretty stoked for our commencement speaker. Enjoy the Cannes smorgasbord.

Congrats on the master’s I just graduated with my master’s after taking 3.5 years to get it part time while working this week from NYU. Mine was Computer Science (boring to most I am sure), what did you study?
One day I’d love to do their master’s in Cinema Studies…
Congratulations! Or should I say: congradulations! See what I did there? It’s on all those cards…
Seriously, though, well done. Still crackin’ at the old B.S. myself.
Any Masters graduate has earned every damn right to be full of himself. Well done, sir.
Mike: Print journalism. I was a film undergrad in another life. Standing in line now and it’s already hot!
Many congrats, Kris. My advice: drink heavily in celebration for a week, and then give us that review of “up” when you’re all hungover on Sunday.
Very cool, where is your ceremony?
Our school-wide one was at the new Yankee Stadium, so I was very pleased being a big Yanks fan.
Well done, Kris, enjoy the well deserved celebration! I’m far too embroiled in my undergrad to dream of a Masters, but one of these days..
Congrats, Kris. Truly.
Big thanks all around, guys.
