Plans for Sunday

Just a heads up, I’ve decided against blogging during the Oscar ceremony this year.  I’m sure you’ll be able to find some activity at other outlets, but I don’t have the endurance this year.  Last year I helped IC friend John Campea at The Movie Blog with podcasts during the commercials.  It was fun but nerve-racking.  (We’ll be doing pre- and post-show podcasts over there, however, so you’ll still get to hear my lovely voice.)  And I’ve certainly done the live blogging thing.

But this year, I feel like I owe it to Bill Condon and Larry Mark, Roger Goodman and Hugh Jackman to really sit and watch this thing happen, because I have a feeling it’s going to be a hell of a show.  Plus, it’s been a long time since I stayed the hell away from a computer during the show, so maybe I owe it to myself, too.

Never fear, of course.  I’ll put up an open thread in case you want to come and chat amongst yourselves, dish the threads, complain (or exclaim) about the winners, etc.  But if the server starts to buckle, forgive us.

Podcasting during the commercial breaks!?! Thats insanity and awesomeness rolled into one another whilst giving birth to a colossal dragon that spews insight.
Take a load off during and enjoy Mickey’s win (fingers crossed)

The trailer for Judd Apatow’s “Funny People” is out and it looks pretty dang good in my opinion. It’s up at moviefone. Jason Schwartzman and Eric Bana are in it, along with a bunch of Apatow’s regulars.

Yes, I know this doesn’t have anything to do with the post.

    Kris,

You deserve an Oscars just watching, thanks for all you do (I’ve been a reader since you ran a site called, I think, OscarCentral). I very much enjoyed the podcasts last year though, I re-listened to them a couple days ago. I look forward to the Pre/Post podcasts for sure.

I’m strangely looking forward to the Oscars again this year, mainly due to the show itself, I have high hopes. Despite my feeling that Slumdog is quite overrated (and depression about my favorite film of the year, Ben Button) being delegated to maybe winning a couple tech’s, I’m still looking forward to the show. That’s the Oscars for ya.

I’ll be sitting at the red carpet, so I may twitter through out the day if anyone’s interested in what goes on from 9:30am to the show’s start…

Bleachers? You want to do that to yourself?

Ah, why not. I’m sure it’ll be exhausting and boring, but it makes for a good story.

Just enjoy the show and have a good time, Kris! There’ll be enough time for a proper analysis afterwards.
