If you’re not doing anything else…

I’ve just found out that, any minute now, a two-hour interview with Philip Glass will begin on BBC Radio 6. Glass is inarguably one of the most fascinating composers of our era, and he doesn’t grant interviews all that often, so this is quite special.

He’ll be discussing “Glass Box,”┬áthe new 10-disc boxset of his work which is out soon, and I’m sure his film work will come up in the interview. Listen here.

I’m sorry I missed that – Glass is my favorite modern composer (and I’ve got two tickets for his October 3rd Solo Piano perfromance in Cleveland).

That said, Glass has always been giving a lot of interviews. Lately, especially as he’s been celebrating his 70th birthday and doing a lot of high profile works.

Some of these interviews (include really cool vintage ones) can be found on YouTube, you can find links to some other ones here:

Any way we in the US can get the podcast? BBC says it’s UK only.

Whenever I hear Philip Glass, I think of Homer:

“A night with Philip Glass? Just one?!”

    Oh, “A Milhouse Divided”.
