So...Hal Holbrook...

Never been nominated for an Oscar. People are telling me that, though he's only in the last fifteen minutes or so of "Into the Wild," it's exactly the kind of role/performance/actor that could get a significant supporting actor push from the studio.

I saw the film the night of its premiere, and Hal was one of the more refreshing parts of it--a somewhat sad old man role... but it is certainly not enough to get a nomination or pull off an Arkin-esque win... not to say they won't try.

"It's certainly not enough" is a notion batted to the ground year after year...

"certainly not enough" ?
tell that to Judi Dench...amongst others.
