The narrative on “The Artist” this season is that it is the film celebrating Hollywood’s Golden Age. Well, it’s not “the” film. It’s “a” film, as Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo” and, to a lesser extent, Steven Spielberg’s “The Adventures of Tintin” can attest.

'Avatar' director James Cameron talks 'Hugo' and 3D with Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo” is about the magic of making movies. So it fits that filmmakers have been tapped as of late to moderate Q&As of the film. Paramount has released a featurette of the legendary director talking with James Cameron about the film and 3D technology.

Academy advances 15 doc features, 'Senna,' 'Interrupters' stunningly snubbed

Meryl Streep is good-to-great in meh-to-good 'Iron Lady'

Phyllida Lloyd’s “The Iron Lady” shares a lot in common with Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar.” They portray conservative figures in political history with broad strokes despite attempting to flesh them out as nuanced characters. But mostly, they serve as hindrances to performances that could have won Oscars in a cake-walk.
