Bourne?

I would love to know what readers think of this, my favorite movie of the year thus far. Chime in when you see it.

Enjoyed it in pretty much the same way I enjoyed "Supremacy." The filmmaking here is first-rate, and it puts action flicks like "Transformers" to shame.

However, having said that, I do wish these films would progress the plot a little further. We don't really learn much more about Bourne, the CIA training program, how Bourne became Bourne, etc. Because we are told so little about Bourne each time out, I've grown to not really care for him as a character; instead, I care for him as an indescructable acrobat fighter.

Great chases, great stunts, edited flawlessly, and fun all the way through. I just was hoping there was a little bit more to it.

Btw, congrats Kris on being quoted in the newspaper ads for this movie.

Hell, I didn't even know I WAS being quoted...

Yeah, in Thursday's LA Times (I think you positioned just under Ebert & Roeper). Are you still in the ad today?

No, they brought out the big guns today. :)

If The Bourne Ultimatum would have followed the status quo of this summer - that is to say if it sucked hard like every third installment - then I'm not sure what I would have done to myself. But Greengrass and Damon have finally made it fun to go to the cinema again. Thank God. And I should have known, Greengrass is becoming one of the most exciting talents in the buisness and Damon is on an incredible hot streak. I hope Ultimatum makes a shit load so Greengrass gets all the money he wants for Emerald City - and Damon's involvement is a MUST. Good flick, great action, this is the best movie of the year so far.

The Departed, The Good Shepherd, and now Ultimatum is an incredible streak for Damon. I hate comparisons but I'll do it anyway: Damon, Wahlberg, and DiCaprio are the next DeNiros, Pacinos, or whatever. Their upcoming projects sound amazing and I think all of them have hit a creative stride that hopefully continues. The Departed will be even more fun to watch ten or twenty years down the road.

Ultimatum was great but this summer was just awful overall. Bring on '08 - Iron Man(I guess), Indy 4(scary) and, of course, the only summer movie with possible Oscar possibilities - The Dark Knight.

BTW, I wish Greengrass was doing Watchmen. Damn...

Saw it on Saturday with a good friend of mine and LOVED IT!! Damon was as excellent as ever. same with Joan allen. Straithairn was simply magnificant as a villain, and i hope he takes on more villainous roles. I never checked my watch once, and the only other recent film where that's happened was RATATOUILLE. That, the Bourne Ultimatum, and Simpsons Movie were the only gems in what's been a lousy summer.

Next summer looks great: Iron Man (RDJ, Jeff Bridges, and Terrence Howard will rock), Indiana Jones IV, The Dark Knight, and Valkyrie.

Whoops, forgot to mention that I also thoroughly enjoyed SICKO.
