'12 Years a Slave' and 'Her' lead the way with Washington D.C. critics nominations

Spike Jonze’s “Her,” Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity” and especially Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” turned up great showings in the nominations stage for the Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association this year. All three films were nominated for Best Film along with David O. Russell’s “American Hustle” and the Coen brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis.”

'Lincoln' leads Washington DC Area film critics nominations, 'Zero Dark Thirty' wins

The Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association has announced its list of nominees for the 2012 film awards season. No surprise that Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” led the field with eight nominations. Tom Hooper’s “Les Misérables” wasn’t far behind with seven. It wouldn’t be too crazy to expect a number of these categories to match up perfectly with Oscar. “Zero Dark Thirty,” meanwhile, took the win for Best Film.

'The Artist' and George Clooney come out on top with D.C. critics
