'12 Years a Slave' tops with San Francisco critics, but 'Gravity' wins four

Alfonso CuarĂ³n’s “Gravity” was a big favorite with the San Francisco Film Critics Circle this year, picking up four awards from the group including Best Director. But it was “12 Years a Slave” that the group named Best Picture of the year. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Cate Blanchet took top acting honors, while James Franco nabbed his second prize of the critics circuit. “American Hustle” won two awards, for Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Lawrence) and Best Original Screenplay.

'The Master,' Bigelow, Phoenix, Riva win San Francisco Film Critics Circle awards

The San Francisco Film Critics Circle has joined the game, and the bandwagon for Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master,” handing the film Best Picture and Best Actor honors. Kathryn Bigelow won Best Director for “Zero Dark Thirty” while Emmanuelle Riva won Best Actress for “Amour.”

San Francisco critics honor 'Tree of Life,' 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy'

The San Francisco Film Critics Circle has announced “The Tree of Life” as this year’s winner for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography. “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” won two prizes, for Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.
