'The Artist' cleans up at the BAFTAs

“The Artist” dominated tonight’s British Academy Awards, winning seven trophies, including Best Film, Director, Actor and Original Screenplay, while its nearest competitor, “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” had to be content with wins for Best British Film and Adapted Screenplay.

Plummer, Gordon-Levitt, Chastain and Jones tapped for Hollywood Fest honors

Christopher Plummer will win a supporting actor prize for “Beginners,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jessica Chastain will receive breakthrough actor awards, while Felicity Jones’s work in “Like Crazy” earns her the New Hollywood Award.

What the Academy's new campaign rules and regulations really mean

The Academy today dropped via press release its annual list of rule clarifications and changes regarding campaigning procedures, but while most are acknowledging the adjustments to post-nominations events and gatherings, my colleague Greg Ellwood has drilled down and noted probably the biggest bombshell of all in the announcement. Before the nominations are revealed, it looks to be open season.
