'Holy Motors' tops Film Comment's list of the year's best

The FIlm Society of Lincoln Center’s annual survey of film critics, journalists and editors left Leos Carax’s “Holy Motors” at the top of an auteur heavy list of films from fimmakers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Wes Anderson, among others.

He’s already been amply rewarded for his films in the Cannes competition, but Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan is due receive the Golden Coach award for his body of work at this year’s Directors’ Fortnight.

59 films vying for foreign-language Oscar

With the deadline having passed two days ago, our list of submissions for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar is complete — and at 59 films, it’s down considerably from the last couple of years, when as many as 67 titles were put forward for consideration. Turkey’s entry, Cannes prizewinner “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia,” heads the list of late entries.
