Oscar winners crash the 2013 Emmy nominations

Posted by · 7:47 am · July 18th, 2013

I’ll leave it to those more embedded in Emmy history to tell us whether Oscar winners landing a slew of nominations from the TV Academy is typical or not. But it was nevertheless striking to me how many Academy Award winners popped up on today’s nominations list.

Posted by · 7:58 am · December 24th, 2012

As members of the Academy hurry through the last screeners they need to see before committing an opinion on the year’s best (for those who bother trying to get as deep into the stack as possible, that is), a number of races hang in the balance as extremely tight categories are sure to leave a few contenders feeling the sting of “also-ran” on Thursday, January 10.

Intrepid net hounds had apparently gone into the guild’s website and done some choice searching to turn out what ended up being, indeed, the full list of nominees. So what were they and what do they mean?

How will Sacha Gervasi's 'Hitchcock' fare with Oscar?

Posted by · 12:22 pm · November 2nd, 2012

AFI Fest picked a fun and droll piece of work for its 2012 opener in Sacha Gervasi’s “Hitchcock” last night.
