Just a programming note: Next week we begin weekly coverage of the 2011-2012 Oscar season. The latest Off the Carpet column hits Monday with updated predictions and proceeds weekly. Ditto Oscar Talk, which Anne and I will launch on Friday. The following week, both features will be off to the races as we move into the festival spread. Guy will launch The Long Shot post-Toronto on September 21 and Gerard will be close behind with the launch of Tech Support on September 29. By then, we’ll be very much in the midst of Oscar madness, so strap in.

Darkness Falls? Ever the pessimist.
I say it’s oscar dawn.
Rubbing my hands in anticipation.
Yeah, I always enjoy the regular columns but Oscar Talk is a real highlight of awards season – across all sites.
The design for the Tooth Fairy was rather interesting. Aside from that, the film’s a bore.
Fasten your seatbelts….. can’t wait!
Imma throw out some crazy left wing predictions to celebrate the eve of Oscar frenzy.
Best Picture – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Best Director – Tomas Alfredson
Best Actor – Leonardo DiCaprio
Best Actress – Glenn Close
Best Supp. Actor – Christopher Plummer
Best Supp. Actress – Keira Knightley
Best Animated Film – Rango
It will be great to have Oscar Talk weekly again. Something I always miss in the Summer.
Yes! Bring it on!
Did I type left wing? I meant left field…
Off-topic, a trailer for Carnage just dropped. I cannot seem to upload it though.
I know that you will probably mention this next week, so don’t feel obliged to answer, but I just looked at “The Contenders” and saw The Warrior had a strong presence. Have you seen it? It looks a little by the numbers to me.
It’s hitting the right notes for a LOT of people. I’ll get into it more soon.
