‘Straw Dogs’ trailer

Some call the idea of remaking Sam Peckinpah’s “Straw Dogs” sacrilege. Others understand the film is hardly untouchable. Whatever your take, Rod Lurie’s re-imagining in the bayou (held up due to ratings issues, among other things) is finally on the way, dropping in September. Yahoo! Movies dropped the trailer recently. Check it out by clicking the image below or check out an embed after the jump.

I love the original Straw Dogs, and while I’m not someone whose is automatically against remakes of movies I like, I doubt this film will be on the same level as the original.

Still, this could be worth checking out. I saw the trailer in a theater and it was pretty good at delivering the genre chills. Though the film looks to lack the depth of the original and Dustin Hoffman’s great performance.

Ben M., your last statement sums up my take on this. I’d wondered what happened to this film since filming wrapped long ago.

Basically it looks like an exact remake set in the South, bear trap and all. Real original.
