I’ve completed the weighting of the categories.  I had to settle on something because the poll stopped working randomly on that last suggestion thread, so I just went with a 1-4 point scale based on perceived difficulty to predict…

The fours went to: Best Supporting Actress, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design and Best Documentary (Feature).:

The threes went to: Best Cinematography, Best Original Song, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Documentary (Short Subject), Best Short Film (Animated) and Best Short Film (Live Action).

The twos went to: Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing and Best Makeup.

The ones went to: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay, Best Animated Feature Film, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects.

If anyone has any strong objections, I’ll listen.  We have today to lock it in.  If this is suitable enough, then ahead we forge.

    Make the Best Director a 4 pt one as well, that’s a toss up between Fincher and Hooper and deserves to be valued higher.

    I’d weight Best Picture in 2 points. I don’t think that The Social Network has left that badly the BP conversation. There’s room for surprise there.

    Nelson: No way is it as tough to suss out as the other 4-pointers. MAYBE 3, but I’m open to consensus on this.

    3 for director; it’s only a two person race. But I will still be surprised by either Fincher or Hooper winning.
