I don’t feel particularly bad for Hooper. At least he got nominated.

Whoopi Goldberg’s irrelevancy in the movie business is her real gripe. I’m not sure if she’s more Joan Rivers (unashamed of taking on the worst material for a paycheck and visibility) or Christopher Walken (taking on [almost] everything that is offered because he’s superstitious)?

Not a fan of TKS, but Hooper’s “Geoffrey Rush!” dance in that clip is darling.

Whoopi Goldberg has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress once (Color Purple) and Best Supporting Actress once which she won for Ghost. Yes, it is a big deal. It is a validation from one’s peers in the film industry. It’s the highest honor a actor can receive. How dare you smug people be so dismissive.

Whoopi has starred in over 100 films in her career. Ms Goldberg has the distinction of being in the small group of actors to receive a Tony, an OSCAR, a Grammy, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, A Mark Twain Comedy Prize and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She has distinguished herself in the Industry and deserves more respect that she has received lately regarding the New York Times article.
