Did anyone else realize that Lee Unkrich is the only director in the 10 who didn’t get nominated? Everyone else got there on screenplay. If they count the story credit from Toy Story 3, Unkrich is there too. Looks like they don’t need 10 director spots after all.

I can’t believe Michael Owens (Visual Effects, Hereafter) tried to block Luke Matheny’s (Short Live Action, God of Love) face in the back left row!

Owens did work on Young Sherlock Holmes and Explorers, both formative films from my youth so I’ll cut him a little slack. But just a little.

Every year I wish AMPAS would provide a left to right of all the names.

I’m interested to know who the non-famous people photographed are, their role and what movie they worked on.

It makes me so happy to see Jacki Weaver standing with the likes of Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, and Jeff Bridges especially. It’s amazing how this little lady from an underrated Australian movie is now at the Oscars.

    GO JACKI!!

I bet Melissa Leo was pissed off she got stuck in the back row. AGEISM! ;)

Though Amy Adams was probably pissed at Annette Bening too, ha.

    @John G,

What do you mean? Unkrich is a double nominee, for Animated Feature Film and for Adapted Screenplay. Heck, I’d even go so far to say he’s an Oscar winner, since Toy Story 3 will the animated category.

Never thought I’d see the day with Colin Firth and Trent Reznor would be in a picture together…was Bale a no-show? didn’t see him in there.

Who’s the dude on the far bottom right with that crazy beard?

Also, that weird Bridges/Bening pose is bizarre. Adams is getting crushed behind them too!

@Speaking English: Geefwee Boedoe, nominated for “Let’s Pollute.” If you watch the bonus feature on the Monsters, Inc DVD about the opening titles, he’s interviewed there. So, recognised him instantly.

Where is Dave Fincher? I can’t find him? Shooting the Dragon Tattoo perhaps?

Susanne Bier is missing too. So Bale and Bier, who else?

Look at all the black people!

Also, Arronofsky seriously needs to lose that mustache. I’d hide my kids from him.

@Jacob S – At least he isn’t wearing one of his many scarves.

Who’s the dude in between the Coen bros? How dare he?

It took me a few seconds to realize that the brunette in the back row on the left was Hailee Steinfeld. She does not look 14.

Even with all the good looking people there, Jennifer Lawrence still stood out.

Aaron Sorkin needs to get out of the tanning booth more often. Dude looks almost like a Jersey Shore cast member.
