More to give away this week as we’ve got something for the animation fans. Up for grabs: Tracey Miller-Zarneke and Cressida Cowell’s lovely coffee table book “The Art of ‘How to Train Your Dragon'” and a copy of John Powell’s beautiful beloved original score for the film.
I think I’ll steal shamelessly from Sasha Stone again and give this away by way of a Haiku contest. So cut loose with your best “Dragon”-inspired Haiku poem (submit up to three, if you like). Winner gets the goods.
Also, be sure you refresh your memory on what a Haiku poem actually IS before submitting to your entries.

Getting close to those
That fill you with tons of fear.
Your life will be changed.
Fear of the unknown
Is what makes the world so sad
And it could cost you
Flying with Toothless
Was quite an experience

Toy Story Three? No,
Pixar has fooled you, yet again.
THIS is the year’s best.
Pixar’s stranglehold
has never seemed so unfair
Dragons (and dreams) take flight.
Moral courage is
I am not one of them, I
am Hiccup, I am new.

A blurry demon
Flying, sets the night ablaze
Truly a cute pet.
Be careful, Hiccup
Dragons take their art to heart.
Don’t step on the lines!
A nightmare walks in.
The kid deals with it calmly.
Dad goes ballistic.

A series of reflections from the perspectives of three characters:
Toothless
Try the fish. It’s good.
Thank you for fixing my tail.
Always there for you.
Hiccup
Sorry I maimed you.
I’ll make you better, Toothless.
Make me better, too.
Stoick
I didn’t get you.
I didn’t get your dragon.
But now I do, son.

We ride together

*Hiccup* excuse me
Could some one scare me? *Hiccup*
Oh my god! DRAGON!
Closer to heaven
Higher and higher we go
My dragon and I
She leaves me breathless
Scared, I show her my Toothless
Never more loveless

Hiccup and Toothless,
Scrawny and large, but as one
Soar above slayers.
The Night Fury calms,
Tamed by love and faith airborne,
And with tail mended.
Son of a Viking
Flying a dragon up high
Finds a hero’s joy.

He tamed the beast
Gave him a home
Trained with him
And the boss now fall
They were all free
With gratitude for thee
For the two who came and set them all free
