I always look forward to the official poster(s) for a given Academy Awards ceremony. I remember being giddy at the Alex Ross-crafted image (however cheesy “The Gold Knight Returns” might have been as a tagline) from a few years ago. This year we have four “inviting” you to the show. Check them out in full after the jump.

Is it me or does the third poster look uncanilly like the logo for Wienstein Co.?
I know searchlights are a fairly common motive but couldn’t someone at least make an effort to change the color so it doesn’t look like a straight ripoff?

They’re okay. Very simple, but they get the job done.

These posters are waiting to slap a “that’s what she said” all over them.
They’re very nice and minimalistic looking, though.

Based on the poster it looks like the Academy is going back to “And the Oscar goes to” instead of “And the winner is” used last year.

Looks pretty, although there is something disturbingly Leni Riefenstahl-ish about the first poster.

I like the top (main) one quite a bit. Certainly better than they have been most years. My favourites remain those they when used vintage photos of two winners (I forget who) holding Oscars. Those were amazing.

I think these years posters are awfully and cheaply digital looking (and not just because of the low-rest images presented here).

I like the first, but agree with Maxim.

It’s funny that Andrej went for the “that’s-what-she-said” take on it, whereas my first impression was how easy it would be for evangelical Christians to try and jesus-ify these… in the vein of such works of art as the Subway-like logo t-shirts that say “Hisway” instead of Subway.
I’m just waiting for the searchlights that make a cross in the sky, or the envelope that has some Bible verse about speechlessness instead of “and the Oscar goes to…”
