San Francisco and Toronto critics chime in

At The Circuit.  San Francisco here, Toronto here. And the Globe nominees have been relocated there as well.  Anyone heard anything about the NYFCC runners-up?

Thrilled for John Hawkes, and such a fun pick by Toronto to go with Armie Hammer’s double duty. It’s also fascinating to see just how all over the place all the acting categories are this year with the critics. It feels like there’s been 3-4 different winners (at least) in each category so far.

I usually love the Toronto critics for their independent thinking, so I’m disappointed to see them fall for this Steinfeld-in-supporting trick.

Category fraud is nothing new, surely not for kid actors (Tatum O’Neal in Paper Moon anyone?). Not really worth getting disappointed over, it’s just the way it is, has been and will be.

And Black Swan takes home another cinematography award! I haven’t been keeping count, but other than one or two that True Grit won, I believe Black Swan has been sweeping the rest.

The point I think Guy makes is that Toronto critics have, in the past, gone the proper way.

I’m surprised Toronto didn’t go with Rooney Mara for “The Social Network” for Best Supporting Actress, based on their other winners.

What Kris said. I’m resigned when it comes to industry types, but these guys should know better.

Wow, Armie Hammer, that’s pretty cool. I definitely think he has deserved a little more attention for his contribution to TSN than he’s gotten.

Not necessarily in the form of awards consideration, but just attention.

Is it just me or has The Tillman Story gotten a lot more attention in the last few days than it’d previously gotten?

Phoenix critics have announced their nominations too, by the way.
