Just a note to echo my thanks to everyone for making this place what it is.  I had hoped to get around to that Menken piece but tomorrow or the weekend is looking more likely.  The Lions on the tube, the bird in the oven, friends on the way, plenty to keep me busy.  So, thanks again, and consider this an open thread.

Thanks for the website, and the Oscar Talk podcasts in particular. I probably didn’t need to stumble upon another movie website to siphon the remaining hours of my life away, but I suppose it’s better than using that time to catch up on Jersey Shore reruns.

Also, if you’re ever interested in what a middle school in-school suspension teacher from north Texas with no industry connections has to say about the awards season, or just movies in general, I’m here for ya.

Same goes for me… If you’re ever interested in what a 17 year old with a passion for film and far too much spare time on his hands has to say.

Pilgrams, I don’t need no pilgrams, I don’t need no stinking pilgrams to tell me how thankful and appreciative to be twards Kris and crew for filling in the gaps of my cinephiliactic life.

Let us us raise the gravy boat to the hopelessly devoted, here here!

In addition to eating a wonderful meal (I’m very thankful for my mother), I had my first viewing of the season of Love Actually today.

Ah, Love Actually. I’ll watch that movie every year ’til the day I die.

Kris, I would love to see you post a list of your top ten performances of the year. I think it could generate some interesting discussion.

Well, shit. I actually enjoyed ‘Burlesque’.

Is it poorly acted, predictable, and schlocky? You bet. But it’s aware of that.

‘Burlesque’ showcased more energy, pizzazz, & fun that anything I saw in self-serious ‘Dreamgirls’ or ‘Nine’ (though they’re obviously better made films, overall).

I had a blast, and the theater certainly did, too.

Outside shot of a costume (Michael Kaplan) and song nod, that’s about it.
