‘Cowboys & Aliens’ trailer

Posted by · 1:25 pm · November 17th, 2010

Yes, another trailer. I’ve been champing at the bit for “Cowboys & Aliens” since Jon Favreau decided to spring some sweet footage on the crowd at Comic-Con. The teaser poster hit yesterday, and today, we get a trailer (which is largely built around the set piece we saw in San Diego). Check it out via Yahoo! Movies by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.

Looks good but the trailer needs more Sam Rockwell.

“More Sam Rockwell” should be a new meme, like “More cowbell.”

Looks promising. Ford, in particular seems well utilized. My only concern is that some of the footage seems poorly edited and even shot (even taking into context that it’s a trailer). Still, count me among the interested.

It’s been a flurry of activity today regarding trailers. I enjoyed this one more than Green Lantern.

No Your Highness trailer featuring future Best Actress winner Natalie Portman and future Best Actor nominee James Franco?

That’s a good idea Kris and I plan on using the phrase more often going forward. Especially since Sam is after all just as cool as cowbell if not cooler.

Check out the stuntman being pulled on a wire at 1:34! Awesome trailer, but I laughed out loud when I saw that!

Loyal: I’d rather not overload with trailers. We’ll get to it. Thanks for being on our tails, though.

Your Highness looks terrible. I would rather you not post it actually.

Isn’t Paul Dano supposed to be in this? Is it weird that he was what I was particularly looking forward to?

I’m not creaming my pants over this movie like a lot of people have in the Web universe today, but it seems to take itself more seriously, unlike our certain other big trailer of the day…

Nice catch. Hope that this is fixed by the time movie comes out.

The tone is well executed in this trailer. Much entertaining over any Michael Bay entire flick.

    Favreau = kickass filmmaker.

Meh! Not feeling the trailer. I’m sure it will appeal to the young male adolescent/teenager crowd next summer.

Just curious, does anybody know exactly what Rockwell’s roll is in this? He’s my favorite!

Maybe it’s a ham and cheese roll, DylanS.

I agree with James. The story seems like it could be really strong. The potential for a sick movie is there, but I couldnt really tell from the trailer if they had actually translated the story into as good of a movie. Definately one worth waiting for hopefully.

Although I was excited about this after hearing about it at Comic-Con, that trailer really impressed me. I was not expecting Favreau to take it in such a serious direction, but I love it!

As for the editing of the trailer, the thing to remember is that this is basically a teaser. The film won’t be out until the end of July, and it only finished filming in October. Plus, as I understand it, this is the same footage that was shown in Comic-Con (like how the first Iron Man trailer was essentially the Comic Con footage from ’07).
