I see Annette, Natalie, and Nicole as well-positioned for nominations thsyear. Firstly, they come across quite well, here. Natalie is (apparently) too good to dismiss in BS, Annette has the overdue angle, and I get the impression that Nicole is well-liked by actors. The other two slots are, to me, btwn. Manville (category placement), Michelle Williams, and maybe, Jennifer Lawrence.
I loved this roundtable. I just love Annette (LOVE her voice). Nicole was interesting. Natalie is quiet, but I don’t find her too-cool-for-school or anything. HBC … hysterical. I really hope she get a nom, and possible win. Hilary can grate, and loves to hear her own voice, but she seems like a good person, and I always like her performances. Amy, love her, but she seemed tired, here. LOVED the bit with her and Hilary over the same role.

Natalie is so gorgeous, but I was surprised by how quiet she was. She never came across as anything but gracious, but perhaps she was slightly intimidated? She only really ever spoke when a question was aimed directly at her, but she always laughed and smiled as everyone else shared stories. She’s a class act.
Hilary would not shut up. I like her, she seemed very genuine, but she just went on and on! HBC had me dying, especially about Tim Burton and their working relationship versus their home life. She’s a real hoot.
Nicole was prim and proper, and Amy seemed a little away from the situation, if that makes sense. As if her mind was elsewhere, perhaps on her baby? The bit about her and Hilary reading for the same part was hilarious, though.
I really love these roundtables. Does anyone know when the actor one will come out, and who will be a part of it? I hope James Franco takes part, which seems likely.

P.S.- Annette is great, and her story about Milos Foreman was really funny. She seems very down-to-Earth to me.

For those who don’t know, you can get the whole roundtable here:
I would kill to know what Nicole and Lars Von Trier email about. How awesome.
I love this stuff, especially with women like this. The moderator’s seemed a bit wasteful with their questions but all of the actresses were very accommodating and at times were much more honest than I expected them to be in an interview (HBC talking about how hard of a time she and Burton went through on Sweeney Todd, Nicole stating that she was working so much at one point to run away from her own life, etc). Good and interesting stuff.
Though the best parts were when the actresses interacted with each other in some capacity like Bening egging on the whole thing with Amy Adams and Hilary Swank or Natalie talking about career advice that Nicole gave her.
So much fun.

If Annette Bening continues to charm like she does in this video, then maybe she’ll get the designated “IT’s TIME” winner spot at this year’s Oscars a la Jeff Bridges in 2010.
Why do they insist on posting a video where you can’t scroll? I seriously do not understand the thinking behind some of these Oscar video posts. Last year both THR and John Horn/LA Times had amazing director roundtables that were all chopped up but where the full transcript made it clear you were missing a lot of fun interaction. I got to the 34 minute mark of the actress one, my browser closed unexpectedly, and now I can’t pick up from where I left off.

This was good fun. Why are the female stars in Hollywood always so interesting and the male stars, as a rule, such dullards?

I love Annette’s bass line of a voice. Her and Carey Mulligan, they have such great voices.
Also, every time I see Helena Bonham-Carter’s initials HBC, I always thing the writer is referring to her as a HBIC (Head B*tch In Charge)…for those not familiar with the term..it’s a GOOD thing!
