‘For Colored Girls’ poster

Posted by · 4:51 pm · October 1st, 2010

Yes, as usual when it comes to a “For Colored Girls” post, we’re all playing wait and see on Tyler Perry’s latest. Maybe it’s an awards contender (I hear Kimberly Elise gives the stand-out performance), maybe it’s not. The trailer was spiffy, and there was a set of character posters that was just as fetching. Now, courtesy of Movieline, we get a look at the official one-sheet. Check out the full image after the jump.

GORGEOUS, but then again Tyler Perry teaser posters almost always are. Its the final design that’s usually cheap, ugly and with lowest-common-denominator laughs.

How inconsiderate of Kerry Washington to have such a long surname. Really messes up the balance. If only they’d put Macy Gray’s name on the poster instead, they wouldn’t have had that problem.

Seriously, I really like it. Glad, again, to see an illustration-based design.

Damn it! This is absolutely beautiful and it’s for a film that I will never see because it looks just like every Tyler Perry drama before it.

I’m usually a fan of the posters for Perry’s movies, and this one seems to be the best yet.

That said, none of his movies have played well with me. Good posters don’t make good movies. My guess is that this will be an acting showcase, but the actual movie will be a disappointment on the whole.

Well, Ain’t it Cool news. This is really cool. It’s too bad that in the age of digital collections like this are so incredibly rare.

    Props for buying one, Kris!

By the way, the medley playing on the official site is truly epic.

Wow, this totally ended up on the wrong page.

In any case, this poster really is beautiful. That said, I would have liked to have seen, Perry’s name displayed more prominantely. It’s would have showed confidence.

Yeah, I really love this poster. One can only hope that the quality of the actual film will meet the level this poster and the trailer…but Tyler Perry, sigh, I just can’t get my hopes up at all.

This is what you called a movie poster.. Not like ‘The Tourist” which was very uninspired..

This makes me want to watch the movie even if I don’t like it at first…

I really hope this movie gets some kind of oscar recognition. An ensemble of talented actresses…including Janet Jackson. lol. It seems this years oscars is going to be very, very white…if u get what i’m saying. Kimberly Elise has yet to generate oscar buzz and she so deserves it. Loved her performance in “Woman Art Thou Loosed”.
