Is the Producer award supposed to be an equivalent of best picture?

No, there is a “Hollywood Film Award” for that, which last year went to Star Trek (while the producer award went to Ryan Kavanaugh for Nine and Brothers).

Is Carter the frontrunner now for supporting actress? This is the second award for her now, that I can recall.

Guys, the Hollywood Awards don’t matter. They are not even real awards. Everyone who knows a thing about them knows how fake and meaningless they are and the real purpose for which they exist (i.e. generating publicity and money for their founder).
Don’t try to find logic in their picks, either. They are awarding things that they think are popular and are trying to cast as wide of a web as possible. It’s best to just ignore (that means not lending any sense of legitimacy to them) by not reporting them.

The hollywood awards don’t matter but in this case, they gave the award to the front-runner film. The social network.

If it ain’t here it’s somewhere else, Pete (Variety, etc.) Don’t shoot the messenger.

That’s fascinating logic there, Kris. You are not arguing that the HAs are worthless yet you reporting on them because they were reported on (legitimized) by Variety. That doesn’t solve the problem that HAs are worthless… yet we are talking about them on here. Why is that again? (And don’t say that they were reported on by Variery since we already established HAs are worthless).
In other words, I won’t shoot the messanger but… what is the messenger’s message exactly?

I’m not reporting because Variety reported I’m reporting because I received the same press release Variety received. I don’t look to Variety for my coverage, but my point is the information will be out there regardless. I’m not on some noble crusade in the name of the “good” film awards here, because, really, what the hell is that anyway?
So no, the logic is I report on film awards, legitimate or not.
One could argue against the legitimacy of the Oscars, frankly.

“I’m not reporting because Variety reported I’m reporting because I received the same press release Variety received.”
I’m sorry, I honestly don’t understand what that means. I got the part about you getting the same press release but the rest makes no sense.
As for the rest, not to be naive but you could have ignored the press release. Not even out of the fact that you are on a crusade but because, again, it’s not newsworthy. Just for that one reason.
We could argue about legitimacy of awards period. But on an Awards site one has to draw a line somewhere and the one “Festival” that operates like a bussiness and is thoroughly rigged might not be a bad starting point. Again, call me naive.
And it’s not like you don’t draw a line somewhere already. You wouldn’t accept a press release from “Mah Kitchen movie picks of the year”, would you?
Lastly, and this time I don’t mean this as an insult at all, there is a difference between this site and Variety. Variety is a leading trade publication (for now anyway) that does more than just Award Reporting (despite them being their main source of income…).
They also report about the whereabouts of celebraties in general. In that regard, they are expected to be comprehensive. And begrudgingly, I admit that The Hollyword Fest will have plenty of celebrities.
But you already answered my question by saying, that above all, you don’t care as to why and what. It’s an Award. It got posted about. I get it. as far as you are concerned it belongs here. It belongs by virtue of being an “award”. I should stop here.

It means you seemed to think I was reporting because it was at Variety, Pete. Read.
And it’s newsworthy to my audience. If you aren’t that audience, there are many venues available to you.
I don’t draw lines. I report. Not that hard to understand. And your “Mah Kitchen” example is silly. It’s an awards presentation held at the start of the season with all recipients attending.
I have no problem with you thinking the festival and/or these awards are pointless, but I do have a problem with you telling me how to do my job.
