‘The Town’ poster

Ben Affleck’s “The Town” may or may not be an awards play for Warner Bros.  “Gone Baby Gone” was seen as an exceptional debut and I hear this one is as solid an outing (watch the trailer here), but the priority, as always, will be business.  That said, the recently released one-sheet, save for the boxed-in heads at the bottom, is kind of awesome in an irreverent kind of way.  Check it out in full, courtesy of iTunes, after the jump.

    This looks good. Michael Mannish.

In other news, according to The Wrap, Affleck is replacing Bale in Terrence Malick’s next movie. Now, I’m not part of the Affleck sucks at everything camp, but Affleck in for Bale? Ugh.

I just don’t have it in me to clamor for every inch of new Malick film news. But good for him.

Affleck = Bale, in my opinion.

I really didn’t like “Gone Baby Gone,” so I just can’t get excited for this.

If Malick actually got around to finishing the films he already filmed maybe I would be surprised by that news.

The trailer for The Town has me waiting in anticipation, more than I can say for anything else released this winter.

Great, so Affleck will have a great film to add to his acting resume in 2024.

I for one loved Gone Baby Gone. In fact it was on tv tonight and I urged many people to watch it.

Hate to be the one to ask this, but do the masks remind anyone just a little bit of Point Break?

Still pumped for this though. And ps, I happen to think Point Break wasn’t a bad flick even before Kathryn Bigelow won an oscar.

I like Ben Affleck the writer/director, and I’m warming to him as an actor. I loved ‘Gone Baby Gone’, one of my top faves for 2007, and this one looks good too.

Drew, when I saw the trailer, I thought the “x meets y” way of picthing a movie: “The Departed meets Point Break”. I love Point Break, still think it features the best foot chase I’ve ever seen, and I’m kind of sad that another movie is entering the “funny masks while robbing banks” department.

Point Break is a classic. Now more than ever we must honor Swayze’s finest hour.

Fantastic foot chase indeed. Not only that but what about that brutal throw down in the midst of an awesome hurricane? That has to be one of favorite fight scenes. My favorite foot chase at the moment though may have be Inception. It’s so fast and so claustrophobic, I just love it.

I think this has potential in the Best Supporting Actress category for Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall (lead?).
