‘Due Date’ trailer

Posted by · 3:50 pm · July 14th, 2010

Hey, two Zach Galifianakis trailers in a row.  This one is for “Due Date,” the new film from “The Hangover” director Todd Phillips.  The southern boy in me LOVES the Waffle House shout-out, but anyway, the film looks like a great tandem comedy for Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr.  Check out the trailer from Yahoo! Movies by clicking the image below, or watch the embed after the jump.

Waffle House is exclusive to the South? Boy, I’ve been spoiled.

Hey, at least after a million obvious jokes they’ll probably move us by making the characters see how they really like each other. Hug?

Hans: Not exclusive, but you don’t get one every single exit anywhere else.

So it’s basically “Planes Trains and Automobiles” with bonus gay jokes (why is he walking like that all the time?)

My affection for the people involved makes me hope they deliberately dumbed the trailer down a bit; that whole fathers bit at the beginning is the funniest part for me, and it’s nothing like the rest of the trailer tonally.

Call me pessimistic, but since I abhorred “The Hangover,” I’m not really looking forward to this. Phillips hasn’t made a good movie since “Road Trip.”

The fact that I didn’t really like ‘The Hangover’, I think Zack Galifianakis is WAY overrated, and the inclusion of Jamie Foxx, all make me not-so-enthused for this one. However, I’d follow RDJ to the ends of the Earth, and that opening part of the trailer about RDJ’s father was both funny and somewhat touching, but doesn’t match anything else in the trailer at all. I hope this film has many more scenes that follow the tone of the opening bit, cuz that’d be a helluva lot more interesting then what the rest of the trailer had to offer.

That opening scene is equal parts brilliant, touching, and hysterical. The rest is not as great but still amusing enough to check out in theaters. I pity those of you who lack a sense of humor, or maybe you’re just old.

Maybe this trailer didn’t take the “put all the best parts in” approach. Maybe the movie is way better than the trailer.

@Emily, Maybe the movie is way better than the trailer.

I hope so. I saw a different trailer 3 weeks ago posted on tumblr but can’t find it anymore. That one was quite different and had more jokes.
