‘Paranormal Activity 2’ trailer

Posted by · 11:01 pm · June 29th, 2010

If you go see “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” this summer, you’re likely to see the new trailer for “Paranormal Activity 2.” Last year’s DIY thriller scared up a healthy box office with an innovative approach to distribution, but the idea of a sequel is dubious to many.  The trailer has been released at the film’s official site and I have to say, it’s not really moving the needle for me.  Click on the image below to have a look or check out the embed after the jump.

I haven’t seen Paranormal Activity and have no intention of doing so. And this looks hilariously awful.

The original was kind of interesting for its origin, but are they really going to do the camera setup and pretend millions of dollars were not spent this time?

I agree with James D., the concept was pretty original and the whole “handheld camera” thing was done much better in the first one than other movies like “Blair Witch.” However, what ruined the first movie for me was the annoying characterization/performances and a lack of tension when it was daytime in the movie (which was for 9/10 of it). Most likely I’ll see this when it comes out, but it’s not a “must-see” for me…maybe a rental.

Unless they do something innovative that surpasses the original, this really was not a movie that merited a sequel and would have stood better on its own. I actually wasn’t that impressed with the original (I thought the trailer did better at freaking me out), so I’m being open if they do something amazing second time around. On a semi-related note, I’m glad they scrapped the Hairspray sequel.

Oh my gosh, the reviews are absolutely poisonous. And this is probably a movie that most people went in hoping to like (beloved franchise, Shyamalan’s comeback, etc.). Not even Ebert liked it. Damn, I’ll still check it out this weekend, though, see what might have been. Is this the end for Shyamalan?

Hans, The Happening made a ton of money. I am sure he will work again.

Also, my girlfriend’s entire family is a fan of the show, and I know nothing about it, so I might be forced to go with the entire family to a midnight release of this air bending thing. When even a pollyanna like Ebert trashes something, I know to look away.

It says “What is happening to Hunter?” You have to hold a mirror up to it to read it. And the baby isn’t in the crib, but he is in the mirror.
