Mike Fleming reported at Deadline yesterday that George Hickenlooper’s “Bagman” (formerly “Casino Jack,” or maybe it still is, who knows), which debuted at Sundance and could be a power play for lead actor Kevin Spacey if it’s ever picked up, is being shopped around town after a distribution deal with Metropolitan fell through. So I guess it’s a good time to toss up the trailer, which I stumbled across at Hollywood Elsewhere:

Hey Kris,
I spoke with George and he said the title is still 100% Casino Jack.

I think BAGMAN is a better title.

I’m feelin’ it, partly because I love Spacey and partly because I’ve always found Abramoff to be kind of fascinating in his horrible-ness. (Fun fact: Barry Pepper’s line in the trailer is an actual quote.) On the down side, neither of those songs need to be used in any movie ever again. Just saying.

So true about the songs. “Sympathy for the Devil” and “Gimme Shelter.” The Maysles put those to rest.

Interestingly enough, Sympathy for the Devil highlights the similarly-themed Wall Street 2 trailer.

Couldn’t even have listed Academy Award Nominee Graham Greene.
Sigh.

Unfortunately, having worked with George around the time of this project, I’d have to say, this one’s likely gonna be rather weak.
