Man with a fútbol

The whine of harmonica from my favorite piece of film music ever caught my attention on the television a moment ago.  I looked up to see a short version of the following commercial, featuring Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Spain’s David Villa.  Pretty neat.  Though nothing will likely ever touch Michael Mann’s (American) football promo from a few years back.

Then you wouldn’t pick up the chessboard elegance of the game.

The Mann commercial is epic with a big help from that music from Mohicans, I also really like the football video Fincher directed right before Ben Button came out showing LT and Polamalu age from birth to NFL player.

And of course….you got Ennio Morricone on that one as well.

Too bad the Jabulani ball fucks up the whole shiny shoes and speed thing. That thing is seriously ruining the game.

I prefer Fincher’s Gamebreakers with dog-killer Vick to Mann’s commercial:

I’ve heard this commercial so many times over the last week that I’m starting to fear that I’ll associate that incredible score with shoes instead of with the equally incredible movie – one of my all-time favourites.

This is a good commercial, but c´mon: nothing can beat this glorious 4-1 win of Germany against England!
