‘The Green Hornet’ trailer

Posted by · 1:11 pm · June 22nd, 2010

Hardly awards material here but hey, Christoph Waltz is having fun slumming.  “The Green Hornet” hits screens in January and will probably be a fun distraction.  The presence of Michel Gondry behind the camera would lead you to expect a certain artistic flair, but then again, nothing about this trailer — which debuted at Yahoo! Movies — seems to reflect his sensibilities.  And I guess it was only a matter of time before the new Cypress Hill jam was used in the promotional materials of a high octane-ish actioner.  Anyway, click the image below to see for yourself or check out the embed after the jump.

Soooooooo disappointing to me. Big surprise, I know, but this was a Hollywood product that should have earned my $10.

Well, here’s hoping this doesn’t doom Waltz to be the German F. Murray Abraham.

Waltz doesn’t want a serious career. He has an Oscar now a man over 50 years of age can just cash-in for all that its worth. I hope he doesn’t become the new Anthony Hopkins and forgets how to act for the rest of his career.

So guys…are actors just not allowed to have fun or something? It always amuses me how surprised people here are that “serious actors” sometimes star in big Hollywood movies like this one. Besides, he’s not exactly slumming it….it’s Michel Gondry. Of course actors are gonna sign on.

Hey, where did I say actors weren’t having fun? In fact:

“…Christoph Waltz is having fun slumming.”

What absolute garbage. Rogen is terribly miscast here. This almost seems like a career killer for him. Maybe for Waltz, too (who, let’s face it, is going to have a very limited career in America–villains, villains, villains).

Wasn’t this directed by Michel Gondry!?!? This looks NOTHING like his previous work…

    …this looks awful.

I’m getting a weird “Kick Ass” vibe from this film. It feels so similar.

“Career killer” oh ffs. Waltz DOES have a career throughout Europe ya know. And Rogen? Nah, this won’t ruin his career. This doesn’t look anywhere near as bad as “The Phantom”.

Nevertheless, the movie is being released in January so even if there was something Oscar-ish about it (being a Michel Gondry movie, ya never know) it won’t get there.

I’m disappointed by the trailer. I had hoped it would be Rogen stretching his abilities and Gondry adding some interesting sensibilities to a stale genre. Neither seems to be the case and it feels more like typical January junk.
