‘Precious’ takes five at Spirit Awards

why dont u just congratulate Precious instead of being a typical party pooper like most people who claim to love award season and movies and then act all precious about it all.

Saying the winners were predictable isn’t necessarily a value judgment, Mike.

I think it should be. It’d be interesting to see what happened if the ISA’s waited to do their nominations ’til after the Oscar nominations came out and made it a rule that no Oscar-nominated films or performances could be nominated at the ISA’s. Then it might actually be an independent affair, instead of just the Oscars and then the John Cassavetes award to make it seem “Indie.”

Happy to see Roger Deakins get rewarded for his terrific and Oscar nom-worthy work on A Serious Man.

It’s too bad that Adriano Goldman didn’t win for Sin Nombre. Deakins didn’t deserve this one.
