‘Avatar,’ ‘Basterds’ win with MPSE

See the full list of winners here.  We covered the sound editing category last week in the Oscar Guide.  I think “Avatar” is still safe to win there, but there could still be a splitting seeing “The Hurt Locker” take sound mixing.

I think Avatar will take both Sound awards. And I’m nominated against them. It is what it is.

I also don’t think Avatar can lose any of the sound awards. Films like this (King Kong, Jurassic Park, Titanic) always win them both easily.

But… if you’d want me to pick an alternative, I’d say Inglourious Basterds may have a chance for the Sound Editing award, since this Wylie Stateman seems to be quite appreciated in his community (he was even nominated for Wanted). But again, it’s not just his community who votes. So I say, Avatar wins.

Uh, Kris where Inglourious Basterds took out a win, next to its name it says “(AVATAR)” instead of “(WINNER)”.

Just thought you’d like to know.
