Oscar’s class of 2009

Posted by · 4:37 pm · February 15th, 2010

Bingham in the back right, cheesing. Hilarious. Bridges alongside former co-star (and fellow frontrunner) Sandra Bullock. Quentin Tarantino, arm around Sally Menke, loyal as always. A trio of supporting actress contenders in Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga up front. Ivan Rietman with son Jason, fellow nominees, first time ever for the former.

A nice shot, as always. Click for a larger version.

Do I see Fisher Stevens? What’s he doing there?

It’s not usually this bad is it? I mean, James Cameron is looking away, and there’s some guy in the middle whose face is completely blocked. Not to mention the tops of people’s heads at the bottom. These shots have never had any artistic beauty to them, but I don’t remember them being this off either. Very odd.

I do like that Maggie Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan are holding hands though.

Yeah, pretty sure that’s Fisher Stevens next to Anna Kendrick… a quick check reveals he was the producer of The Cove, so my guess is he’s there for that.

Oh, cool. I didn’t know that. I just checked that he wasn’t nominated, didn’t really look at his credits.

Looks like The Cove nominees are still TBD. Maybe Fisher will get a nomination?

Gabby Sidibe is looking faaaaaaa-bu-lous as always. It’s my hope that somehow, just somehow, some vote splitting happens and she wins the Oscar. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

And who’s the cut-out face in the top row, being held by the guy 8th from the right?

Oh, and I agree that this picture appears worst than most years. Maybe we’ve noticed more because Mr. King of the World is so obviously not looking, and he’s one of the few we recognize.

After recently watching Zombieland, I can never look at Woody Harrelson the same way.

Every picture of him, I go “yep, he’s the MAAAN”.

The cut out face is Jon Landau I think. Producer of Avatar.

So there’s only like, five black people present.

How depressing. Looks like pep rallies at my old highschool.

This picture would be fun to play I Spy with.

Mulligan went blonde? For which movie?

    Nice photo by the way.

Farmiga is the hottest in the picture but I always go “awww” when I see Meryl.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is so beautiful. I am so glad she has finally been nominated, she is one of my favorite actresses.

Also, who is the dude by the ladies with the long blond hair?

Is that Colonel Hans Landa hiding his face just to the right of IB producer Lawrence Bender.

Christoph Waltz for those not in the know.

I don’t know why, but I look forward to this shot every year. Probably because at least one person ends up looking hilarious or dorky.

    Where is Woody Harrelson?

@JFK: I don’t think Penelope attended. She was at the Goya Awards ceremony the night before back in Spain.

Ah, that explains it! I was scared that she WAS there and was looking a little worse for the wear, hehe. Thanks Jessica!

In addition to the lack of black people, notice the lack of Hispanics. And Asians? What are those?

Actually, there’s a lack of anything other than middle-aged white men. A severe lack of women is apparent, too.

In other news, what’s up with Maggie Gyllenhaal’s shoes? Sweetie, no.
