A year late with that quip, and I owe it to reader/commenter Adam Smith in any case, but the point being, if yours is a tradition of celebrating today’s holiday, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.  It’s beautiful in New York, snow on the ground in the park, the midtown vibe is all storybook and shit.  I’m having fun.  Things should be back to normal and up to pace next week, but for now, a moment with my favorite Christmas movie:

    Happy Holidays Kris.

I can’t wait to start hearing about the films of 2010. I thought this was a good movie year (and I still have several films to catch up with), but I’m excited to start talking about next years films already.

I spent my Christmas morning watching Fat Girl. What a bizarre movie.

Nothing better than spending a Christmas morning with your four and three year-old sisters.

Agh. The memory of Slumdog still haunts us all. It will be a beautiful day indeed when all those critics go “hey…wait…Slumdog really wasn’t all that”. I continue to think every person giving it their personal “best of the year” award either didn’t see that many films, or has no business being a film buff. It was entertaining, populist cinema, but people should demand more from the BEST OF THE YEAR. Ugggggggh. :(

That’s a great clip, I haven’t seen that movie in years. My favorite holiday film is still prolly Home Alone. Even after watching it about 2 dozen times it still brings me holiday cheer. Anyway, Merry Christmas In Contention!

    Hey Kris,
When can we see the 2010 prediction list? I’m anticipating Rabbit Proof Fence and Nicole Kidman to be on your list of films.

Kris, I actually watched “Slumdog Millionaire” today with my parents (after the Spelling Bee was over, of course!). It was my third time seeing it, and — while I always thought it was great — it was my first time connecting to it emotionally. How fitting that you should publish this post today!

    Merry Christmas!

I’m with you Shark. I thought Slumdog was trash. Well shot trash.

Slumdog Millionaire is a great movie. Definitely one of the better Best Picture winners this decade.
