It blows my mind that patronizing dreck like this is still getting made in 2009.

This is exactly the kind of film that you know was born in a pitch meeting where one guy tells another: “I can already see the one-sheet before me!”

James Berardinelli wrote in his review that the promotional materials make it look more mawkish than it actually is. He gave it 3 stars and he’s one of the harder critics out there to please.

Plus, it’s directed by John Hancock, who directed the terrific The Rookie with Dennis Quaid, Rachel Griffiths and Bryan Cox.

i gotta say I’m fully rooting for Sandra Bullock to get a nomination for this.

If Bullock gets the nom for Best Actress, then surely Quinton Aaron should get for Best Prop – or maybe Best Plot Device to Initiate White Character’s Redemption. Or maybe [crosses fingers] Best Minority Closest To An Active Agent.

    At the very least.

josephchilders, I actually just saw this tonight, and it is not patronizing. Are you always a negative human being?
