Ellen seems to have been really taken by the film. She’s interviewed the three biggest stars in a week. Mariah Carey was on today.

Errrrr, Mo’Nique comes across a bit condescending and cold. She’s going to have to practice and find a better speech.

And don’t talk about your weight loss when there’s a morbidly obese 2o-something in the film you’re promoting. It’s just tacky.

It may be rushed but I already imagine Mo’Nique going up the Oscar stage. At this point there is no woman pushing her aside.

Well, look at her. She is GUNNING for that Oscar.

And she will probably get it, too. Good for her.

    Go Mo’Nique!

Loyal, you think that’s cold? Yikes.

Mo’Nique comes across as forthcoming and open to me.Not condescending or cold.To open up on national T.V about being molested by your brother is an admirable thing.

She’s shows a self-effacing side by talking about as she says,”her big head.

I had no problem with her talking about her weight loss.I’m sure that she wasn’t trying to offend Gabourey Sidibe. In fact she did not mention her while talking about her weight loss.So I don’t see how it ties in to being tacky.

    @ Glenn

Frosty, yeah. All the “baby” and “mama” talk only goes so far. She doesn’t seem warm, she had a very pointed manner of speech. She’s funny for sure and that’s a bonus.

    @ M.Harris

Mo’Nique is now the 5th Precious crew member to talk about being abused (Daniels, Perry, Blige, Oprah). I guess I have to wonder at what point does it become part of the campaign strategy.

I’m not saying discussing weight was intentionally tacky. But with obesity being a serious issue particularly in the African-American community AND you’re doing press for a film that stars a morbidly obese young person, it’s weird, to me at least.

Mo’Nique said she lost weight because her husband doesn’t want her to die. Gabby is 15 years younger and probably 150 pounds heavier. I hope someone is having that discussion with her. It would be sad to lose such a young talented person.

Loyal,Gabby is a twenty-six year old grown woman.I think that she knows that being that big is not good for her.

I think that you’re reading into it just a tad bit too much.I think that our community-parents,teachers,clergymen etc.etc.need to be at the forefront of talking about obesity in the our community. Not celebrities.

Especially celebrities who have said nothing to discourage or promote obesity.A three minute discussion about weight loss won’t send the wrong message.Over-feeding and lack of exercise by parents will.

i DO hope Sidebe is paying attention because as lovely and lively as she was, it was frightening to see her huffing and puffing halfway through her interview with Ellen because of that one dance.

Besides, obesity is a serious issue for the entire country! Not just african americans. And Mo’Nique has always been large, so now that she’s slimmed down of course it’s going to come up in interviews.

Finally Mo’nique shows up for something! :)

great. I expected her to be more arrogant, but I thought this was a great short interview and I definitely wanted to see/hear more!!!

Give her the Oscar! if she really deserves it. Can’t wait to see her performance.

i probably wont even like this film but i’m rooting 4 it just 2 shut up the haters. Armond White was way 2 harsh i mean, hope non of the actresses read his review. But he did make great points on Cadillac Records and Next Day Air.

See, I have been saying all along that when it’s time for the movie to actually be released to paying customers then Mo’Nique will gladly show up, but what’s the point of her going to a screening in London when she has her own TV series to deal with as well? A film festival doesn’t need Mo’Nique of all people to get people to see that movie.
