Seriously indeed-The best movie I’ve seen all year. If only the Academy had held out another 2 years, then it might actually have a shot at winning…

Wonderful, I love this time of the year when FYC ads start kicking up. No better to start with than the Coens’ masterpiece.

That poster makes me feel good. Gives me hope that maybe we’re in for an awards season where everything isn’t totally fucked up.

Haha okay, I’m not going to lie, that actually crossed my mind as well, however subtly. But I think that creamy blue actually works nicely here too.

In a way they are mocking Milk.

Good to see early campaigning for this film because it could be very beneficial. I really hope they push Stuhlbarg hard for Lead Actor because he really deserves a nomination in my opinion.

I think I’m one of 5 people who didn’t care for A Serious Man. It’s going to be a longgggggggg season.

Won’t happen, but I’ll be rooting for it to get in The Ten as well.

When the truth is found to be lies and all the joy within you dies. Well, what then?
I owe the Coens a huge debt of gratitude for reviving my old love of philosophy. What a rich wealth of material they’ve given us to analyze! Even though it’s only #7 of the year for me, it’s the film that made me think the most of any this year. A Best Picture nomination would be more than deserved. And while we’re at it, recognition of Michael Stuhlbarg would be pretty nice, too. I hope to see him in many films to come; the guy’s a great presence.

    Glenn:

I don’t think it is explicitly mocking Milk, but the advertising campaign for this film features the protagonist in a series of triumphant (some might say quixotic) poses that conflict with the futile nature of his existence.

In this sense the Coen’s are refuting the sense of importance that films like Milk (perhaps the entire biopic genre) ascribe to certain individuals. You could say Larry’s life is rather inconsequential.

Nice ad, good movie, but not best of the year IMO… I think I need to watch it again, there must be something I missed.

So, you’re saying, this is as close to an Oscar as Michael Bay gets?…
