Interesting that the article about PE came out now, yet I agree and have always felt it looks cheap, like a history channel re-enactment special.

Ah more Polanski talk. Not sure I have seen it on the site, do you have view on the recent developments? Not sure if that would be too political for the site or not though…

I have a view that I’ve shared elsewhere but I’m keeping it a thousand yards away from this space. I don’t want the comments section here turning into the madhouse it has elsewhere. A passionate issue, to be sure.

There is The Hangover, sitting on the USA Today list. I am not so crazy after all.

No kidding, Mike. Jeff Wells posted two different items about the Polanski situation and both posts had over 100 comments each.

I love the end of the Amy Landecker piece. I just Googled her and saw that she’s 38. I would have guessed 35 at the most.

I just want to say that The Huffington Post’s film pieces are an embarrassment. They shove them into the broad Entertainment category, which is bloated with more celebrity gossip items than US Weekly, and then they allow ANYONE to write these posts. I know they’re working on launching a Books section relatively soon, I hope they do the same with Film. Then they just have to exercise some quality control. There’s no shortage of out of work film journos right now, people with real credibility. Maybe they could grab a few of them and flush the college kids and Hollywood noise-mongers they’re using now. Arianna needs to keep an eye on the front door and see who they’re letting in. Right now, she’s running the Denny’s of film discussion platforms.

That’s such crap about “Public Enemies.” Show me any History Channel reenactment that looks NEARLY that beautiful and I’ll pay you $100 bucks. It’s ridiculous. The film has a wonderfully lurid, visceral look that works perfectly with the narrative.
